After the outburst of novel coronavirus, worldwide, over 18,000 people have died across 194 countries and has claimed the lives of over 18,000. In India alone, cases have crossed the 500 mark and have seen the death of 11 people. For a country with the world's second-largest population of 1.3 billion people, the number seems to be less, but the situation is still thin-skinned.
Focusing on this sensitive situation Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced a 21-day lockdown across the country to combat the spread of COVID-19."If you won't follow this lockdown for 21 days then your family may face setback of 21 years, some families will be devested forever," said the PM said.
After this announcement, within an hour, several grocery stores had a huge crowd in waiting and a lot of products out of stock. To allay the public fear, the prime minister took to Twitter to clarify that essential commodities will be available.
According to the official lockdown notification, "Shops including ration shops (under PDS), dealing with food, groceries, fruits and vegetables, dairy and milk booths, meat and fish, animal fodder" can remain open. The notification also states, "District authorities may encourage and facilitate home delivery to minimise the movement of individuals outside their homes."

At the meantime Big Bazaar was flooded with calls to start doorstep delivery; taking the situation seriously the company has started the doorstep delivery and shared series of tweet mentioning that doorstep service will be available across 16 places in Mumbai, also mentioned that the similar facilities will be available in Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida.
