The Chandigarh Excise and Regional Tax Inspectorate charges a fine of Rs 25,000 for two bananas served to the GST at the JW Marriott Hotel. The department wrote an invitation letter to the hotel, which states that actor Rahul Bose was charged with two unusual bananas. The actor blamed 442.50 rupees, including GST, for two bananas at a luxury hotel in Sector 35 Chandigarh.

A senior official of the UT excise and taxation department said that penalty of Rs 12,500 was slapped under UT GST and Rs 12,500 under Central CGST. Hotel authorities will give them time to respond from Saturday to 11 am, but added that they want more time. Deputy Commissioner for consumption tax and ordered JW Marriott to investigate the "illegal and excessive collection of GST" for two fresh bananas. On Sunday, Bose wrote a video showing the anger that he had taken 442.50 rupees for two bananas.
