Chandigarh will open tomorrow 10 to 6 pm instructed not to take a vehicle for people to shops

Chandigarh. The administrator held a meeting with Advisor Manoj Parida and other officials here today. It was decided in the meeting that shops with essential items like cereals, groceries, fruits, vegetables, milk, meat and fish will be open daily from 10 am to 6 pm till further orders. The administrator said that people can visit these shops to purchase essential items in the markets of their respective area. He also said that vehicles would not be allowed to avoid overcrowding in the markets. Citizens will come to these markets on foot only. Sellers of fruit and vegetable businesses will also find a place in these markets. The administrator emphasized on ensuring social distance between citizens and appealed people to fight a global epidemic like Corona virus. He appealed to the people to follow the norms set by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The administrator emphasized on providing essential commodities to the economically weaker sections in the city. He was informed that cooked food is being distributed to about 15000 needy persons on daily basis. However the supply of ration and vegetables will continue in the rehabilitation colonies, slum areas and villages through CTU buses by deploying administration staff. The Administrator also reviewed the availability of various commodities in the city and directed the concerned authorities to ensure proper coordination with the state of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh by raising issues with the concerned counterparts. DGP Sanjay Beniwal, A.K. Sinha, Finance Secretary, K.K. Yadav Corporation Commissioner, Omvir Singh Bishnoi, DIG and other officers were also present.
