Encounter in Srinagar, 2 terrorists killed

Srinagar. On Tuesday, 2 militants were killed by security forces in Srinagar. The operation started at 2 pm on Monday night. According to sources, 2 Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were hiding in Srinagar's downtown, one of which may also be Junaid, the son of Mohammad Ashraf Sahrai, the head of the separatist outfit Hurriyat Conference.
According to the information, 29-year-old Junaid was trapped in a densely populated Nawakadal along with his partner last night. The police had received strong information about his presence through technical intelligence. This is the first time two years later that such an encounter took place in Srinagar. Earlier, an encounter took place in Karan Nagar.
The search operation was carried out by the police under siege at 2 pm. An hour later, the hiding militants threw grenades at the security forces, after which the encounter started. The grenade was blasted, injuring two policemen and a CRPF jawan.
On the night of 16 May, Tahir was reported to the security forces in Khotra village of Doda. Since the killing of Hizbul terrorist Harun in January 2020, Tahir had been conducting terrorist activities here. The terrorists hiding inside a house started firing around 7 am Sunday. Tahir was then killed in a 5-hour encounter.
On May 6, security forces in Kashmir killed Riyaz Naikoo, the top commander of Hizbul Mujahideen. He was included in the Most Wanted list for two years. He came to Begpora village in Pulwama to meet his ailing mother. Police received input from the presence of Naiku and some of his associates in this village. Security forces buried Nayaku's body in front of five family members in the cemetery at Sonmarg where the bodies of the terrorists are buried these days.
