Governor of Chhattisgarh Balramji Das Tandon laid to rest
Chhattisgarh governor, Balramji Das Tandon passed away at the age of 90 on Tuesday night as he was admitted to Dr B R Ambedkar Memorial Hospital in Raipur. It came as a shocker to everyone in the political world as the leaders from every party paid their homage to the BJP leader. Tandon became the governor of the State of Chhattisgarh In July 2014. He was cremated along with respects on Thursday in his hometown Sector-25, Chandigarh.


Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh, paid his condolences on the day of Tandon's death. PM Narendra Modi tweeted his respects, "Saddened by the demise of Shri Balramji Dass Tandon, the Governor of Chhattisgarh. We have lost a widely respected public figure whose service to society will always be remembered. My thoughts are with his family and well-wishers in this hour of grief".



Sanjay Tandon along with his mother, Brij Pal Tandon, wife Priya Tandon, sisters Poonam Batra, nephew Rishabh, Alka Kavtra with Yashpal Kwatra along with daughter-in-law and
daughter, sons Saaransh, Shivan and Satyam, daughter-in-law Umang and Wangmai gave their last farewell to the departed soul during the funeral procession.

On Thursday, the Minister of Home Affairs of India, Rajnath Singh came to the funeral of Balram Das Tandon and paid his respects with the garland. Accompanying him were Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Dr. Raman Singh, Governor of Punjab, VP Badnar, Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki, Ex Chief Minister Himachal Pradesh Shanta Kumar, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Chandigarh MP Kirron Kher, Ex Union Minister Harmohan Dhawan, Finance Minister Haryana Capt. Abhimanyu, Agriculture Minister Haryana OP Dhankad, Aarti Mehra, former Deputy Chief Minister Punjab Sukhbir Singh Badal, P.P. of Punjab Assembly Speaker Further, Rana Sodhi etc. pay their “Shardhanjali” to the departed soul. In addition to Official bearers of the BJP Chandigarh, Councillors, Districts teams, Departments, Prakalp and Cells of party, thousands of people from the different States with other respected dignitaries of the political world to pay homage. The Bharatiya Janata Party's Punjab workers gave their last farewell to the words "Swargiya Balram Ji Dass Amar Rahe Amar Rahe," "Jab Tak Suraj Chand Rahega Tandon Ji Ka Naam Rahega”.


The funeral procession took off from Tandon's Sector-18 residence to the BJP office in Sector-37 where everyone was allowed to pay their last respects. Then, the body of Balramji Das Tandon was taken to the Sector-25 cremation ground for the last rites to take place. The rites were taken over by the former CM's son Sanjay Tandon where he was emotional while performing the holy ceremonial rituals. He was given the authentic customary 21 gun salute. Due to the demise of such dignitary, Independence Day on Wednesday did not have any cultural proceeding after the flag unfurled in the State.
