Kinnaur tragic landslide: 3 dead, 30 feared under debris

A major landslide in Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur district on Wednesday has claimed the lives of three persons, while seven injured have been taken to the hospital. Over 30 people are feared buried under the debris.

Deputy Commissioner, Kinnaur, Abid Hussain Sadiq told PTI that several vehicles, including a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus carrying over 40 passengers, are buried under the debris. The bus was on its way from Reckong Peo in Kinnaur to Shimla, he said.
Ten people, including the bus driver and conductor, have been rescued from the landslide site near Nugulsari area. Teams of ITBP from the 43rd Battalion, 17th Battalion and 19th Battalion are carrying out the rescue operations. NDRF, CISF, and the police have also reached the spot.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have called upon Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur and assured all possible help from the Centre.
