After 672 goals, 268 assists in 778 games and receiving 10 league titles, four Champions League crowns and 3 Club World Cups among his haul of 35 trophies for Barcelona.
On Sunday Messi's family and some of his teammates were present at Camp Nou to give a proper farewell.
Messi struggled to hold him self together and broke down in tears as he took the stage and started by addressing that he and his family had no intentions of leaving Barcelona but sudden change of events took him by surprise but LaLiga rules changed everything. He even said that he didn't want to stay in Barcelona last year he tried to leave but this year he tried to ensure that he stayed in Barcelona.
“I did everything to stay here. I agreed to reduce my salary by 50 percent.”
“A lot of things have gone through my head. I’ve still not come to terms with the reality of leaving this club now and changing my life. We need to accept it and move forward. The time when I made my debut, that was my dream come true and everything that came later was amazing. I will always remember that moment where everything started.”
Earlier FCB also announced that it could not keep its greatest player because it wasn’t able to fit a new contract within the Spanish league’s financial fair-play regulations.
Messi didn't speak much about his future but said that he had received few contract offers on asking about PSG offer he said that it's also a possibility
