Punjab and Haryana HC tells Panchkula to explain sewage flow in Sukhna
The Punjab and Haryana high court has directed Panchkula municipal corporation commissioner to explain the status of sewage being dumped into Sukhna Lake from Saketri side on the next date of hearing on September 13. The court cited media reports on sewage entering a water channel passing through Saketri in Panchkula and adjoining Kaimbwala village in Chandigarh and then entering Sukhna.

The court directed the MC commissioner to explain how the present condition is contrary to the affidavit filed by the Haryana government.
During the resumed hearing of the case related to saving Sukhna Lake, a division bench comprising Justice A K Mittal and Justice Avneesh Jhingan questioned how despite submitting an affidavit in the high court assuring that sewage was not entering Sukhna, the situation on the ground was different. The Haryana government additional advocate general Sandeep Modgil responded in negative. There was also a verbal tussle between Haryana government and UT standing counsel Suvil Sehgal.
